Nervous about your first hypnotherapy session? Here’s what to expect when you visit North Brisbane Hypnotherapy.

If you’re thinking about trying hypnotherapy, it’s normal to have questions. You might not know what happens in a session, or whether you’ll feel comfortable with the process. That’s understandable.

This post walks you through what your first session will involve, so you can decide if it’s the right fit for you.

A Conversation, Not an Interrogation

We begin by talking through what’s brought you in. I’ll ask about what you’d like to change or explore, and I’ll listen carefully. You won’t be rushed, and you won’t be expected to explain things in any particular way.

You’re welcome to share as much or as little as feels useful. The focus is on working together—so your input matters.

Will You Be Hypnotised in the First Session?

Sometimes, yes. Other times, we spend more time laying the groundwork. That might mean talking through how hypnotherapy works, introducing a few tools, or clarifying your goals.

If we do use hypnosis in your first session, it’s a gentle and straightforward process. You won’t be “out of it” or unaware. You’ll be focused, and probably more at ease than you expected.

What Hypnosis Is—and Isn’t

Here’s what to expect:

You won’t lose control

You can talk, move, and open your eyes at any point

You won’t be asked to do anything strange or uncomfortable.

Hypnosis isn’t about being passive. It’s a way of accessing and working with patterns in a clearer and more efficient way.

After the Session

Some people notice a shift straight away. For others, it’s more subtle or gradual. Either way, the goal is to support change in a way that’s practical and sustainable.

If there’s something you want to focus on next, we’ll talk about that. If you want time to reflect, that’s fine too.

When You’re Ready

If you’re considering hypnotherapy, I hope this gives you a clearer sense of what to expect. You’re welcome to reach out with any questions, or book a time to talk.
